Parasite Prevention
Parasite prevention for dogs and other pets is critical as many parasites can end up causing severe health conditions.
Dangers of Parasites
Parasites can be extremely dangerous for your pets.
- External parasites like fleas and ticks commonly cause infection and can have severe adverse affects on your pet’s health.
- Ticks can transmit Lyme disease, along with several other blood borne diseases, and fleas can transmit tapeworms.
- Fleas are the most common cause for allergies in dogs and cats, and these allergies frequently result in secondary skin and ear infections.
- Heartworm is transmitted by mosquitoes and causes heart failure and death
- Parasites including roundworms and hookworms and giardia can affect intestinal and overall health and can be transmitted to humans as well.
It is important to understand that you might not be able to identify parasites on your pet. People frequently fail to notice that their pets have fleas until they have developed a full blown infestation. Also, some ticks are so small that they are very difficult to see, and even when they start to enlarge, they are usually hidden under fur.
